My Story (to the point)...

As a kid growing up in West Islip I played Little League Baseball, Basketball, and Soccer but I wasn't much of an athlete. I was always an overweight kid with little confidence and that led to me being picked on and beat up by bully's. During my time in High School I was just getting bigger and when I graduated in 1988, I weighed 305 pounds. After I graduated High School simply because of my size I was asked to be a bouncer at a local rock club and quickly learned how to defend myself which definitely helped me with my confidence.

Towards the end of 1991 I noticed an application in the New York Daily News for the Golden Gloves Tournament, not knowing anything about boxing I cut it out and sent it in, a few weeks later I went for the physical at the Daily News Building in Manhattan. A few weeks before my first fight I got a new next door neighbor, I guess it was destiny because he won the Golden Gloves the year before in the same division I was going to fight in. He took me down to the gym where he was training and I was beat up, no, I caught a butt whooping every day for the two weeks leading up to my fight. It was the best thing that could have happened to me because I won a second round TKO in my first fight, next was the quarter finals and I won the Modell's Boxer of the Night Award and advanced to the Semi Finals where I lost a close decision.

After that I left that gym and trained at the Deer Park Recreation Center with Eddie Belfiore and Mark "The Hebrew Hammer" Weinman, that lasted about a year until the gym closed. With out hesitation I then started training at the toughest boxing gym outside of Gleasons Gym in Brooklyn, the Westbury PAL. This was a tough gym where any day of sparring would be tougher than any competitive fight you could have, it was a place where many pro's trained including a lot of top ten boxers and appearances by many World Champions. This was the perfect gym to learn about boxing and I took it all in, I got in the ring with anyone and everyone that came to the gym, no matter who they were. I was trained by Pete Brodsky a tough no nonsense trainer who would always put you in with the best of the best. I had the opportunity to train with Jake "The Snake" Rodriguez, Willie Wise, Lou Llovett, Darren Zenner, Scott Lopeck, Ritchie Brown, Rich Kiley, Kevin Collins, Kevin Kelly, Junior Jones, Trevor Berbick, Bert Cooper, Anudi Santos, Sugar Shane Mosley and the list goes on and on. I was also around other good trainers who I also learned a lot from like Tommy Molloy (currently the Florida State Boxing Commissioner), Gene Moore, Al Gavin, Bobby Cassidy, Frank Daily and again the list can go on and on.

I fought from Westbury until about 2003 and then the trainers and fighters dwindled, guys moved to other gyms or retired and the same with the trainers so that's when I started to bounce from gym to gym, training for a short time with Buddy Mc Girt, then at the Brentwood PAL, Academy of Boxing in Huntington, Freeport PAL, Lumber Jack Lou's Academy of Boxing an most recently Heavy Hitters Boxing Gym.

My boxing experiences in and out of the ring have been quite extensive, I've won, I've lost, I've trained with countless fighters and trainers, I've been hurt, I've hurt, I've been knocked down, I've gotten up, I've stopped fighters, I've been stopped, I was an assistant coach for the New York National Golden Gloves Team in 2006, a Coach/Team Manager for New York's 2007 U.S. Championship Team, I invented and patented a training device for boxing, I even asked Mike Tyson to spar with him and challenged Iran Barkley to a pro fight, about six times, I was elected at age 35 to the board of directors of USA Boxing Metro, the organization that governs amateur boxing in New York and most recently the trainer for 2009 New York Daily News Golden Gloves Champion Kristin Havdoglous.

That, in a nutshell, is my past; I do mean a nutshell because there is so much more, and I have great expectations for my future. I will become a Level 4 USA Boxing Coach so I can be considered to be a coach for the Pan Am Team and eventually the head coach for the United States Olympic Team. I intend in the very near future opening a non for profit amateur boxing gym giving everyone the opportunity to experience USA Amateur Boxing and work to better themselves and giving people the chance to learn to be boxers, coaches and officials. In the end I want to develop and guide those special fighters to World Championships and ultimately becoming productive members of society while giving back to others, offering them the same opportunities.
